When you say those four words to someone\u2014Wheel of the Year\u2014often their minds will immediately wander to the Wiccan or Druidic Wheel of the Year, popularized by Gerald Gardner and Ross Nichols, respectively. Consequently, some will look at this Wheel, as we have presented it here, and balk immediately. The fact remains, however, that both the cycles of the Sea and the agricultural cycle are precisely that: cyclical. So is the entire concept of time on the whole. Cycles, dear friends, are circles<\/em>, and guess what? So are wheels! Connla was first given this Wheel of the Year by Freyja back in 2017, while working on Norse Witch: Reclaiming the Heidhrinn Heart<\/em>, in a dream-vision one night as he slept. He then \u201cfact-checked\u201d everything She had shown him, and quickly found that all of it was supported by concrete historical evidence, drawn not only from Lore, but also the archaeological record, folklore, and ethnographic evidence. A second dreaming-journey was taken by Michelle in the late Summer\/early Autumn of 2023, during which she laid the Wheel at the feet of The Shrouded One, The Net Mother, and The Deep Mother and asked for further clarification. The Wheel which you see above is the final product.<\/p>The Syrene Wheel of the Year is also a reality map<\/em>, and, as with any good map, offers many possible roads to take; many different directions in which to journey. We have the freedom to go whichever way we wish, perhaps spending more time on one road than another, or maybe returning to a favorite path again at a later time. The map is a guide<\/em>\u00a0only; it may provide us with directions on how to get from \u201cpoint A\u201d to \u201cpoint B\u201d, but the directions in which we choose to journey are ultimately up to us. The ultimate purpose of our journey around the Wheel is ultimate\u00a0reparation<\/em> with ourselves.
